What is it?

Saraqusta Film Festival, Zaragoza International History Film Festival, was born in 2021 at the initiative of the Zaragoza City Council and Cosmos Fan, co-organizers of the event, with the aim of highlighting the value of audiovisual production of historical content.

Historical cinema has the virtue of making viewers travel back in time, relive stages and recreate events that have marked an era, with a rigorous balance between reliable narrative and narrative fiction. A format in which dissemination is equally important
and entertainment, which seeks to interest the public while teaching, showing, and making known.
To provide them with a story that moves them, that awakens their curiosity and that makes their cultural heritage or their knowledge of History grow.
It is, in short, a promoter of collective consciousness.

With Saraqusta Film Festival we want to champion the defence of historical audiovisual as an unequivocal reference of History, at a time when, in addition, we are living in a convulsive international context where we see how History is constructed day by day.
The event aims to highlight the full potential of this genre and show the world the rich cinematographic heritage we have.
Our vocation is to make this Festival an event open to citizens, inviting them to reflect on History through the activities we have programmed and thus create a city project based on culture.

The epicentre – and official venue of the event – is the Roman Theatre of Caesaraugusta, where we will have the pleasure of receiving and presenting those national and international productions based on History that are presented in competition or that are part of the programme of screenings.
